WEG:2006 Anky vs. Andreas?
All apologies if this has been discussed to death. I know Helgstrand's video has been rounding the internet.
I watched both riders, and granted I'm no dressage expert or judge, but could someone explain why she beat him?
Blu Hors Matinee seemed more elastic and the routine seemed to flow better.
Enlighten me, please!
I understand your confusion. It is about style. I too preferred Andreas's ride but............he made mistakes. Errors in riding that cost him points.
Anky's ride was, in my opinion, perfect, cold, accurate and without feeling.
Andrea's ride was electric, flawed, exciting and a bit sloppy.
The preferred "style" in dressage is cool, perfect, accurate.
There is much debate on the "style" and many people think that "electric", and "exciting" should be better rewarded in the point system, but that makes judging more subjective and less accurate. So the debate continues.

In Anky's Freestyle Dressage routine...?
Was the little flip of the heels outward that Salinero did intentional? Is it a dressage movement, or was it a fault?

Allice: Lol, yeah I do some dressage...I usually spend half my lessons on dressage (it's helping me learn to use my seat more and get the horse collected ^_^), and the other half h/j. XC's still my fav though, but my strengths are XC and dressage according to my trainer...Anyway, I'm still learning about dressage, so it's taking me a bit to judge adequately, I do admire the choreography though!!
I don't know much about dressage, so I'll just appreciate all the riders...I'm kinda ignorant to the ways of dressage, so I'm not gonna pass judgement on any of the riders...Anyway, thanks guys! I thought that's what it was, but was just curious. Either way, those olympians are AMAZING o_o
First of all....AHA DRESSAGE PEOPLE ON ANSWERS! How few of us there are....Alas! Anky van Grunsven is not a perfect rider contrary to popular belief and does make the occasional fault. I personally hate her style of riding, I find it too tense and unnatural looking. Also, the judges favor her and her annoying roll kur-ing self. If you notice how the other riders ride (their style) you will see that their movements are more fluid and less forced. Steffen Peters is a perfect example of that. SO yes, Anky van Grunsven did have a fault there (yesss).

Haha giving me bad ratings for voicing my opinions? Well, that isn't prudent, is it? Seeing as how this is america and we happen to have freedom of speech, it isnt advisable to be punishing people (in example by giving them bad ratings) for expressing what they believe. Don't they promote that, or is this a comunist country where propoganda is spread about free countries?
