Hunter/Jumper saddle recommendations?
I am in the market for a english saddle. I have been looking at (used) Tad Coffins, Antares, and Hermes saddles, but they are pricey!!! My trainer is in LOVE with Tads, but they aren't that comfy to me! She won't take any other kind, but I am looking anyway. What is a good high quality brand that keeps a rider that tends to lean forward and over jump back some? I am a 17.5 if that helps. Is a Tad really that great? I also compete in a lot of shows. I do not own my own horse and I ride 3x a week, so I ride a lot of different horses. I also need to stay below 3k price range. I am not a big fan of Wintec, so none of them please. Also, my trainer likes a flatter seat without a high cantle,
i used HDR when i rode lesson horses and they were good but when i bought my horse i needed a cheap saddle, i got a camelot saddle. it puts me in a really good position on flat and over fences. another boarder at the barn also has a camelot and it's really nice too. both saddles endure daily use and don't always get the most routine cleanings, i think in the past year i've cleaned it 2 or 3 times. when i put it on a lesson horse to ride her in it an employee at the barn hopped on her and commented on how nice it looked and felt. this poor saddles been through everything. when the tack room was being worked on it rode around in the trunk of the car for a few months, my horse rolled all the way over a couple times with it on his back one day etc. and it looks great still. i was leery because it was a cheap saddle but its now a favorite in my selection of saddles. i've used this saddle on horses ranging from skinny, high withered, fat and stocky, thin ponies and everything between and it's always fit great
