bates saddle opinions
english saddle recommendations? please read?
I'm looking to buy my first saddle. I'm going to be riding a variety of horses so my trainer said I should get a medium or wide tree. I'm looking for a close contact saddle suitable for hunter jumpers and showing eventually.
I'm thinking I want to spend $1200 tops...

Is a Pessoa that much better? The gen ex is only around $1300

I've looked around a bit and might consider buying used... any opinions/advice? I need a 17 or 17 1/2.
Pessoa's are GREAT saddles. I've found that they are much more comfortable than a Bates. I've had mine for 8 years and it still looks almost brand new. A good used Pessoa would last you for years to come if you are worried about the price of a new one.
