bates saddles reviews
What is the best kind of saddle?
I'm scared crapless about what kind of saddle I should buy. My aunt who is very expierenced with horses told me I should look at Wintec, and I like wintec, I've ridden in hers, which is about 16 years old, and its veeeeeery nice. It's not fallen apart, or messed her horses back up at all. At the moment, I have a cheap Derby Originials al purpose saddle, which isn't really nice, but it fits the majority of the horses I've ridden. I'm looking at getting a newer, nicer saddle. I'm thinking either Bates or Pessoa. But everytime I go to look at reviews I get people saying "They mess up your horses back" or "Horrible quality"
I don't know what to do anymore. I was looking at the new Bates Saddles. Frank Madden sponsers them, so I figured they couldn't be that bad. But I really don't know what to believe. I'm planning on buying a horse first before getting the saddle, but what brand would you suggest!
Please help, I don't want anything bad to happen to the horse!
Thanks!
There is no type of saddle that is guaranteed to fit your horse, so there is no saddle that messes up horses backs only saddles that were not properly fitted or not fitted at all.
Also same goes for the rider some people love Regals because they are a very comfy saddle but other people would rather have a closer contact saddle without all the padding that a Regal has.
One last thing... I would also recommend looking for a used saddle. I found a wonderful Passier that looked like it was brand new and it fit like a glove for 800$ and when we looked up the serial number it turned out to be 16 years old but I guess it was just sitting in someones tack room and being well maintained for all that time. Also I found out it would be 2900$ if I bought it new. Sometimes you get lucky ![]()
