Cheap Used English Saddles
Bombproof, trails, and bareback?

Ive ridden for about four years and after having a bad fall (permanent spine damage) all I want is a paint horse who can go bareback, who doesnt need an indoor like all the young horses Ive ridden, and is good on trails.

I would ride him bareback most of the time, but sometimes with an english saddle.

I say gelding because well, Ive owned two mares and I think the gelding personality is more me. Ad ive always wanted a paint.

I love horses and Ive never wanted to show so why not have a laid back horse that I can board at with no indoor (ten times cheaper around here), and just 'free ride'? Yes I would w/t/c, and ride as much as I used to.

So am I looking for a trail horse? Are paints good for this description?

Paints are an interesting breed. The reason is because there is quarter horse and Thoroughbred influence in the breed. My boy is very in between he's got the height of a Thoroughbred but the temperament of a quarter horse. But there can be some that go the other way around. Paints overall have great temperaments and are very trail-friendly horses. But there are of course exceptions. As long as before you buy you go see the horse a few times and make sure you see a few different horses then you should be able to spot one you aren't going to get along with. I do highly suggest the breed though, they are loyal and friendly and are very hardy so indoor is not needed. Good luck!

  1. The person that did that should be ashamed. Goood way to make the horse terrified of flapping fabric now. Why don't you try groundwork (sacking out) and trotting first, or stay OFF THE HORSE!
