so which one do you think would go best with my horse (he has a black saddles, and a white numnuh, i think its called so i kind of liked the HDR bridle because with the white lining it would match part of the saddle that could be seen.) thanks!! have a good day riding if your weather is nice and my horse is chestnut if that matters my trainer recommend not getting one for more than 100 bucks, but i really like the HDR one
I personally have never tried HDR, but I know the Collegiate is very cheap brand. I tried a saddle from them and the leather felt very in superior and very cheap. The stitching was also very weak and did not seem very strong. HDR from their prices also look cheap along with Collegiate, so I personally wouldn't use them but that's just me. I saw the pic of the bridle and it looked kind of flimsy and narrow, so that's something that I would be aware of.
Another good brand is Circuit, and in my o. My horse came with a Circuit bridle and I liked it a lot. It fit her nicely and complemented her big head very well. They do come in black and I don't know if they come with white lining. White Lining with bridles is reserved for dressage horses and dressage bridles, and the white lining really doesn't look all that nice with a chestnut horse, I have a chestnut. An all black bridle will stand out on your horse's head and complement the shape and figure of your horse's nose, usually. Brown just seems to fade away and brown really only looks good on gray and bay horses, black and chestnut horses really look their best in black tack. I actually thought of buying a Circuit bridle that was all black but then bought a much more expensive bridle with a crank noseband, dressage riders like crank nosebands.
So, personally I would go with a Circuit black bridle. I haven't seen the prices lately, but I believe that you're trainer is wrong if a bridle is not worth getting if it is more than $100. Most bridles under $100 are poorly made and will fall apart than say a bridle that was put together properly. The leather in bridles over $100 will also be made with better quality leather that will last longer and will retain it's original luster longer than cheap leather. I know that money is tight right now but buying a bridle is an investment and a bridle over $100 is usually a better investment.
