How would I braid his mane for competition?
I am going to be getting a horse, hopefully soon. We finally decided on where we are going to live. Anyways, one of the horses I found is a bay pinto half arabian gelding. He is my favorite horse I found. I am going to do eventing. He has a longish arabian mane and I don't really want to pull it because arabs (or half arabs) look better with their natural long hair. Should I braid it for dressage and show jumping? What kind of a braid should I do? Thanks
if he is an arab or part bred then you don't have to plait him for anything, even dressage.
you also don't have to plait native breeds (shetland, highland connemarra etc) or palominos.

How can I enter a horse riding competition if I dont own a pony myself?
I am really into riding and I was wondering how I would enter a horse riding competition (dressage/cross-country/show jumping) if I don't own my own pony - is there any way I can do it?
P.S My stables doesn't loan ponies for the day

Yes you can! I loan my Paint Mare out to teens ever Summer for open shows, and even let them keep the Ribbons free. I can't get over. How selfish some horse owners are!
Try to find some nice and real friends that will let you use a pony for shows, or as in open shows in 4-H, than later on when you can afford your own Horse, than you can try for Dressage.
Have you ever thought about leasing a horse or pony? At the price of hay and feed. Some will even lease for fee, just to have them boarded out.
If you want a horse or pony please adopt one. They are giving away horses left and right in my State, because of the over breeding of non wanted horses.

I hope things are really going well with you. I think about you all the time, even if I don't write often.
I wanted to let you know that I am well, but my brother broke his arm when he was doing the high jump in school last week. He was in a competition to see who would get into the high jump finals, but I guess he went too high, because he broke his arm.
He is now in a cast and though it doesn't hurt him too badly, it is uncomfortable. He is finding it hard to do things with only one arm! Other than that, he seems to be fine.
I just wanted to let you know that this happened and that I am thinking of you,
