Running XC- nylon y-style breast collar?
Hi- I've noticed that my saddle tends to have a little play forward and back when I'm jumping- the saddle seems to always be fine, but my saddle pad is always sliding, which I think is saying that the saddle slides. This isn't unexpected on my slick-coated TB mare especially with the new flexible saddle tree on our Courbette. Is there a type of breast collar or plate that would work best? I'm mostly looking for a back-up for the XC course- I don't want anything to slide while we're galloping! I have a lady who makes custom tack and I'd love to get a simple y-style breast collar from her (like a hunting but without the withers cross piece) but she makes nylon tack, and I'm not sure if nylon is suitable. Do I need elastic?
Thanks!
Rory
A collar will only keep it from sliding back you would also need a croup to keep it from sliding forward and alot of horses do not like them I would suggest A no slip pad. Most go under the actual saddle pad so they are not seen something like
