Is it the saddle itself, or the saddle pad?
So, today after untacking Luna, I noticed these bumps on her withers. They were not like hives, and they went away as soon as I hosed her down. This has happened one other time, and it was with the same pad. I normally use my dover pads, or a flat dressage pad. This pad is a weather beta with really really thick padding on the withers. It also has this weird trim around the padded area.
This is a wintec saddle, with a custom made gullet. We recently had a saddle fitter look at it, and said it was a great fit. So I really don't know what to do. If, it's just the pad I'll stop using it. It's just a really great (and expensive) pad and was a gift from a special person.
Is it the saddle pad, or do I need to have the saddle looked at again?
Have you washed the pad recently in the washer? Maybe she's having a reaction to the detergent you used...
