Custom Made Saddles custom saddle fitting ... company is in another country?
Ok i contacted the company of the saddle I am going to get they are going to make a custom saddle for me to my speficication . ..... and they are giving me a good price. .....YIPPIE !!!
but I have one problem , there isn't a saddle fitter ANYWHERE NEAR ME ... to help me take more advanced measurements of the horses back. The company Henri De rivil that is making the saddle is in Argentina.
I know how to take withers measurements, and my own body measurements for the saddle
does anyone know of a gel pad type thing that is also used ... I guess you form it to their backs ... I don't know the name of it ...
There's the Port Lewis Impression pad, but that doesn't tend to stand up well if it needs to be shipped. Your measurements, a good template and some photos of your horse are usually all that's required - we routinely order custom saddles from the UK with that info, and they come through as ordered and fitting the horse. You can find comprehensive illustrated instructions on taking a template at http://www.trumbullmtn.com/Other_Pages/wither_trace/wither_trace_1.htm. Remember to have your horse on a level surface, standing squarely, and make sure to take the tracings in the right spots. It's not really hard to do, but accuracy is important. A good conformation shot of your horse is often helpful, too. Good luck!
