I am looking at buying a horse that has quite a bit of sentimental value to me and I just don't know how much it is worth from a strict economic standpoint. He is a Belgian Draft/Quarter Horse cross. He is approximately 18-20 years old. He is trained for pulling and used to be pulled quite often but is not used for pulling any longer. He isn't "broke" for riding with a bridle or saddle. To our knowledge no one has ever really tried. We do know that a person or two have jumped on bareback just out in the pasture and he didn't have a problem with it. He is up at an auction this weekend and I just want to make sure I don't let my sentiment cloud my judgment on this value. We used to have his daughter as our trail riding horse and she meant so much to me and my sister growing up. She is no longer with us but we would love to have him now. Any ideas on how much this horse is worth?
From a strictly financial point of view he doesn't sound like he's worth a lot - maybe a 800 - 1000? But you really hafta decide how much he's worth to You. You aren't buying him as an investment! You're buying him for the sentimental value. It might be hard to decide how much to pay based on that though, so just look at how much you can realistically Afford to spend on this favorite horse!
There are a lot of types of horses other than the two you mentioned. A draft horse would be so big around that you would get very uncomfortable wrapping your legs around him after a while. I can imagine that quarter horses would be very quick and maybe a little high strung. I have a friend who bought a mare with a sweet and quiet disposition because she wanted to have a horse she could enjoy the scenery with. She is happy about her choice. Good luck.
Why complicate something so simple. We are looking for the sign of the fig tree in the last days right?
I'm irritated by the fact that so many people skip over the beginning of the vision in Daniel 8.
The saint asks how long shall the vision be….Not part of the vision.
The King James adds words to verse 13 totally changing your perception of when the 2300 days begin.
The words in brackets do not belong and were added to the transcript so the saint is asking about 3 different things not one.
How long shall the vision, the daily, and the abomination…..Part of the vision? No, the whole vision
Remove the words in brackets
Then I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto that certain [saint] which spake, How long [shall be] the vision [concerning] the daily [sacrifice], and the transgression of desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot?
The vision begins with Alexander the Great defeating Darius III at the river Granicus in 334 BC after Passover.
Starting at the first Passover 333 + 2300 years = 1967
The sign to the final generation? Israel recaptures Jerusalem for the first time in more than 2300 years.
The tender branch (1948) shoots forth leaves (1967)
November of 1947 the agreement was signed to make Israel a state. 1947 + 70 = 2017
Daniel 12 – 1290 and 1335 years
1290 + 1335 = 2625 years
2017 – 2625 = 608 BC
608 BC:
“Pharaoh Necho II, seeing the chance to fill the vacuum left by Assyria and to reassert Egypt’s traditional sway over Syria, sends his full army north. King Josiah of Judah, who still considers himself Assyria’s vassal, meets the Egyptians single-handed at Megiddo and is slain. It is this battle that gives its name to the prophetic world-battle of the biblical book of Revelations: ‘Har’ (the Mountain of) ‘Megiddo’, Armageddon”
608 BC + 1290 (abomination of desolation) = 682 AD
What was unfolding in 682 AD? The dome of the rock was being built on the temple mount. The inscription on the wall inside the dome says, “Jesus is not the son of God.”
682 + 1335 = 2017
2010 is the first year of the final 7 and boy has it begun with a bang.
The oil in the Gulf of Mexico is spewing out of the horse's bridle
Went on one of our “adventure walks” with my 5 and 7 year olds tonight in Historic Old Town. On these walks, they pretty well direct where we go for a half hour… and enjoyed seeing a draft horse “Suzy” giving carriage rides, and played on the cannon replicas in front of the Manassas Museum, walked a little, turned a corner and “Oooompf!” there it was – the “naughty store” poised to open. My daughter asked, “Mommy, what are temptations?” OK, so I was faced with discussing porn with my young children… It’s not ideal. I was really surprised to find it on such a prominent street and sorry to see it at all.
I don't know much about horses but:
