Draft Horse Saddle
Breaking a 2yr 1/2 draft horse that without warning broncs?
i have had this 2yr mare under saddle for 40 days. she goes well in hand and lunges wonderfully. i have ridden her in round pin, trails, and arena always lunging her well before mounting. she goes over polls and walked over 1ft jumps. Walks, extended walks, trots, extended trots and canters on cue. she stands when tied, loads easily, enjoys the wash rack, picks-up feet well...beautiful.
then out of the blue she will bronc! days will go by with no mishaps then she goes loco! its not the tack nor the feed...does any one know why she can show such a dark-side with out warning? i have broken about 3 dozen horses and this is the first with this behavior.
Have you checked her for her wolf teeth? I wonder if they have been removed? Also, maybe you should try a less-harsher bit? Sometimes that is a problem. Otherwise, check out Pat Parelli's website. He is a wiz at horses. Love his clinics! Good luck.

Ascot Draft Horse Saddles? PLEASEE HELP!?
Im looking into getting a english saddle for my Percheron. The one and only brand i can find is Ascot. A review said it was cheap material. Can you guys please give me an idea of the quality of the saddle is?

yohanson- that is the one saddle i was looking at rather than the regular black and chestnut ones. Those are only $299, and that darker one looks better and is more expensive so maybe its better quality. My horse is huge, 9 years old. That's the saddle i was aiming to get if it was good quality...

The material does look kinda cheap.
Do you show him? Or just ride at home/lessons?
If you don't show, why not just get a synthetic brand saddle with little maintenance. They are much cheaper, and draft saddles are expensive enough as it is.
