Draft Saddle
It is IMPOSSIBLE to find a saddle to fit my horse! advice please?
I own a 7 year old, 14.3 hand draft cross who is literally impossible to fit correctly... It's like trying to saddle up a potato! I have tried countless saddles on him, even had a saddle fitter come out and reflock my current saddle (which fit the best out of any ive tried) and custom fit it to his back for a hefty price...and now that doesn't even fit! its a little too tight and likes to slide forward just enough to interfere with his shoulder. Should I give up on english and try to find a western saddle? I feel like a western might be a little easier to fit. Any advice or alternatives for me?
I've been bareback for over a month...which I don't mind, but I feel like I can't own a horse without a saddle!
i bought a wintec with the widest gullet and it didnt fit right =( it fit in the soulder but sat on him funny, i think the channel down his spine was too narrow
Have you looked into a treeless saddle of some kind? They should fit any horse, and come in both Western and English styles. Here's a site that carries them: http://www.treelesssaddle.com/ There should be a lot of other suppliers if you search for 'treeless saddles', this is just the first that came up and has a wide selection.
