Cross Country at Gibbes Farm?
has anyone been on the cross country course at Gibbes Farm? i know people from all over the world use this website but i figured id give it a shot. its located in st. matthews SC. ive never been there but theres a schooling show coming up thats stadium jumping and cross country only, no dressage. also, they are only offering levels novice, training, and prelim. i ride beginner novice (just one level below novice) and was just wondering how wide the xc jumps were (we can jump high we just dont like wide ones!). i was considering going and doing the novice level.

I am sorry, I have never been to this farm trial but most XC courses have a variety of jumps like wide and narrow jumps. I don't think you can enter a trial that just has narrow jumps. How long/wide are we talking when you say you cannot do them? Some can range anywhere from 5ft wide to 12-13ft long or even longer. Or are you talking width? Like the jump is about a foot across? The jumps width can go anywhere from 1/2ft-3ft across depending on what level. Just work on going over wide jumps by putting rails together like this..http://www.horsemagazine.com/CLINIC/S/strapp/twomichellewill/JumpPic.JPG to form a oxer. It can help get used to them.
(like this one is long and pretty wide)
(this one is a lower level cross country jump and isn't very wide but is pretty long)
(see this one is a very con-caved jump because of the hole. You would only see this in advanced and Olympic levels)
