Used English Horse Saddles
Teaching a Western horse to ride English?
There was this horse named Jubilee, and she was a Western horse. My trainer taught her English. And then a few months later, I taught her to jump, and she's doing very well.
But we have a new horse that is Western, and has not learned English at all. And I have never had experience with actually teaching a Western horse to ride English basics (getting used to the saddle, bridle, etc).
What is normally the first step to this? Because many people have different opinions. I'm going to have my trainer help me. Do you just start by putting English tack on and riding on a loose rein at a walk and trot? Or is that too much or too slow?

Start by lunging them in their English tack to see how they deal with it then ride, If your horse is already trained for western you should be using basically the same principles except you will start to bring their head set up higher and speed up their gaits a bit. It shouldn't be very hard if your horse already knows all the basics and leg aids, transitions, collection, etc.

oh totally know that experience, lol! The whole Falkland/Malvinas thing is interesting – the people here are great, nothing against the English at all, rather they just think their government is shit and uses the Malvinas to distract attention from troubles at home… anyway, I now have an Argentina cycling shirt, practically one of the natives now.. just need a proper gaucho hat to go with it so I can look like a proper tourist twit.
