English Jumper Eventer

Help for bringing a horse back into shape please?
Here in about a month I'll be bringing a horse of mine back in from being laid up(non injury related). I wanna start setting up a schedule to condition him with, now. My friend is a 3 day eventer and a stadium jumper, sometimes I'll do galloping sessions with her with my barrel horse. What kinda of conditioning sessions do jumpers do, cause I know those horses are ripped!! Anyway what's a weekly schedule I can do. I ride western(barrels and roping to be exact) and I have access to miles and miles of trails. I can ride english too, if it helps. I wanna do like a Sunday to Sunday kinda schedule, as I ride my horses 6-5 days out of the week. Thanks a bunch(:
How laid up was he? On stall rest? Stalled and daily turnout - with friends or alone? Just chillin in the pasture?
The less exercise he has had, the more slowly you need to start with his conditioning program. If he was locked into a stall, just taking him out in hand will provide conditioning benefits. It will remind him of his cues and how he's supposed to respond to people. If he was pasture-fit, you can start with an hour or so of easy walking with short periods of trotting, 2-4 days a week. Do lots of reminder work. Focus on smooth, prompt transitions. Sidepassing and leg yielding are great for developing muscles and minds. A little bit of longeing is good, maybe 20 minutes twice a week. Keep it easy at first. I like to play chasing games with my horses in an arena or up to 20 acres or so. It's a great way to get them running and having fun and it gets their heart rate up without carrying weight or making dozens of small circles. In between chasing sessions I call them to me and let them know it's just a game with lots of petting.
Remember that the first systems to come into condition are cardiovascular, then muscular, and last of all is the skeletal system. Those joints need to be taken care of. It takes up to a year to really condition them. If you rush them, they'll break down.
Do your trails include hills? Up and down at controlled speed is a great conditioner. Is there a creek or other water that is chest deep and has a good enough bottom to work there? That is a lot of work!
Starting in hand, ask your horse to back up the hill for 10-20 steps at a time. Do one or two sets of this work and build up to 5-6 sets per day. After he is able to do this easily in hand you can do it mounted.
Keep the work varied. Increase intensity and duration slowly and one step at a time. If you've been going at walk for an hour and trot for 15 minutes, you can either increase the amount of trotting or the total amount of time, but not both the same week.
Watch for any signs of excessive tiredness - tripping, stumbling, feeling down the next day, taking too long to catch his breath after a burst of intense work, and especially attitude changes. They can indicate pain or exhaustion.
Watch for saddle-fit issues. A horse coming back from layup won't have the same back shape he had while he was being ridden regularly. As he builds condition his back will change again. If the saddle fit when you started it probably won't when he's in shape again.

I am looking for a good saddle. i don't know what i want to ride. western or english as a three day eventer. i have some experience in both. the horse i am buying is a 9 yr old 15.5hh QH gelding that is a GREAT jumper. any ideas on a good saddle that i could use for what ever i need for the next few years?
I think all purpose is the way to go for you, stubben is a nice brand that you can get used for a great price. I might add to your list: fly spray, breastplate, blanket, rain sheet, cooling sheet, first aid kit, lunge whip, lunge line, thrush buster(if not in first aid kit),clippers both body and face, bathing kit(sponges soap sweat scraper etc), galloping/protective boots, fly mask, bit, leather punch, horse treats and the list goes on I 'm sure I will think up more later xD
Good luck
By the way Jpc you sicken me I hope someone does to you what you suggested to do to that horse
