English Saddle II ride in a 21 inch english saddle, what size western saddle should I get?
Also what would be a good brand if I want to trail ride, do tricks, and have the saddle as light as possible? Also I would be able to pay a higher price, but preferably low! I am skinny FYI, I am just tall.
Do you ride saddle seat? That is standard size for average sized adult women in cutbacks. Saddle seat riders ride in longer saddles than dressage, hunt, or jump riders. For our discipline kids ride in 17", 18", and 19" saddles. Men use 22" saddles. This is a rough example. You measure a cutback from the button on the front diagonally back to the center of the cantle. I am not sure if this is the same way to take the measurement on other types of English saddles.
I would go to a tack shop that sells western tack and sit in a few western saddles to get a proper fit for your body conformation. I wouldn't go by a "drop two measurements" blindly. Sit in a few and see what feels right, what the tack people say, then make your choice.
The self-referential title of Fogerty's first album in three years is no mere play on words; this is as close as he's gotten in a long while to duplicating the loose swamp blues, country, folk, soul and rock that he so memorably created a template for in Creedence Clearwater Revival...
Mel Brooks scored his first commercial hit with this raucous Western spoof starring the late Cleavon Little as the newly hired (and conspicuously black) sheriff of Rock Ridge. Hollywood Westerns were never the same after director/co-writer Mel Brooks put them through the comedy wringer with this tasteless, hilarious spoof. Can the frontier town of Rockridge cope with the arrival of Cleavon Little as its new--and black--sheriff? With Gene Wilder, Harvey Korman, Madeline Kahn as Lili Von Shtupp, and Alex Karras as the horse-punching Mongo...
If you were to argue that Mel Brooks's Young Frankenstein ranks among the top-ten funniest movies of all time, nobody could reasonably dispute the claim. Spoofing classic horror in the way that Brooks's previous film Blazing Saddles sent up classic Westerns, the movie is both a loving tribute and a raucous, irreverent parody of Universal's classic horror films Frankenstein (1931) and Bride of Frankenstein (1935)...

English Saddle
How much does the average english saddle cost?
I might be getting a horse but i dont know whether he comes with tack. how much would the cheap/average/expensive english saddle cost? and how much does the average briddle, rug, standing martingale and grooming kit cost?
If I were getting my FIRST saddle, I'd look on ebay with the help of this group and find a good used english saddle (European made). To do this, you're going to have to learn how to measure yourself for your seat size.
Starting at your outside knee, take a measuring tape and measure from there to your hip. That will give you your seat size. If you HAVE to get a saddle before you get your horse, then go with a medium tree because it's most likely to fit the average horse and you can change it to narrow if you have to by using different pads.
That's a large seat (18"), but that will give you an idea as to what they are costing on ebay (Expect about $40.00 for shipping). This is an all purpose saddle so you can do some jumping, flat work and a bit of dressage with it.
As for your bridle and breastplate, there again, don't go with the cheapies! The ones made in India won't hold up. Expect to spend upwards of $100.00 plus shipping for the bridle, breast collar maybe more but they typically do come with either a running or standing martingale.
As for brush kits, check out Stateline's website, they have kits from $8.00 to $12.00.
Egads. I didn't even *know* anything other than wool was used in the panels of leather English saddles. I am aware some synthetics saddles have foam panels (because I ride in one and hate it) but it wouldn't have occurred to me, seeing this saddle and the word “flocking” that it could be anything other than wool.
Great tips for both online shopping and used tack store shopping!
It really depends on where you live. He sounds/looks like a great horse but in the area where I live(western NC) he wouldn't bring but maybe $500. I know of a horse close to where I live that is a 4 y/o double registered reining horse and will work cattle that has won many chanpionships that the asking price is $700 OBO. He has been for sale for 6 months and has had one person look at him. I would buy him in a heart beat if I had the money. But farther north from here your horse would prolly go anywhere from $2 – 5000. So great horse of not it depends on where you live.
