Used English Saddles
Does any one know of a good person to evaluate a used english saddle in the Dallas/Fort Worth area?
I am looking to purchase a used Intec flex rider saddle and I want to make sure that the tree is in good shape, I have been told that there is a little flex in the newer saddles? I had to finaly retire my old crosby that I have ridden in for years and just need to make sure that I make a good choice. I like this saddle but just worried about the tree
You can easily test it by pressing on it. I would have a friend who has checked trees out do it for me. Sounds like a good choice but I love Crosby saddles

Desensitizing from the saddle
What kind of boots should i get for a english riding saddle or which saddle should i use?
Ok im finally getting to go horse back riding on friday of next week and we get to pick between a english riding saddle or a western riding saddle i really wanna get Ladies' Winner Rubber Riding Boots from doversaddlery.com because they are nice cheap and seem like they will last since they are rubber do you think i should wear these boots for a english riding saddle or a western? o.o
I ride English and have basic Ariat short boots. I love these boots and I'm on my second pair. Since you're just beginning the rubber ones will be fine, but I wouldn't recommend getting expensive boots until you know for sure that you're going to continue riding. All you need is a boot with a heel, no fancy ones.

I ride English saddle seat and dressage, and do it in cotton jeans and cowboy boots (they're less expensive). It's what you and the horse do, not what you wear (unless you are showing, and then it's imperative) –the horse wears a flat saddle, which actually gives you more contact with the horse, and more of a sense of what's about to happen. Since most English saddles have breakaway stirrups, it's actually safer, especially for children. And yes, you certainly can grab leather in an English saddle!
I would probably pay around £3,000- £4,000. He looks like a nice horse =]
