Dealing with Back in the Saddle (the catalog co) ?
How has the customer service been when you've used back in the saddle?
I have been trying to contact them for weeks regarding an item. I finally decided to take a gamble and order it and I still can't contact them! I can't even log into the site to see what is going on, my pw and e-mail don't work.
To top it off they had some 20$ back promotion for trying a shopping service, I agreed to it, and they didn't take off the $20.
Have you ever dealt with this company? What was the customer service like? Did the quality match up to their prices or was it made in China crap?
I ordered their Oilskin coat in English green. Can anyone tell me what country it is made in, and the brand name?
Thanks for any help.
I've dealt with them and found their customer service to be totally lacking. I ordered a picture from them and it was well done...so, I'd think positive and hope that you're not gonna receive an import that is just crap. I took a look at the oilskin coat and, all it says is "imported"...give their service 800 number a whirl and see if you can get an answer there. That 800 number is valid purportedly 24/7.

How do you make a saddle that is too small fit a horse?
I bought this saddle for the horse that I was riding a year ago. It is an English saddle. The brand name of it is "Tudor". My trainer said it is an old brand manufactured in england. I guess it's pretty rare. I tried selling it on ebay, but later took it off. Some people said they'd give me $50 for it. But my trainer paid over $2000 for it when it was new. Anyways, it is too small for the horse that I ride now. I have thought about taking it to a leather smith to have the tree bent out or have some of the wool taken out of the panels, but I'd rather not spend that much money! The only thing wrong with it is that the tree is too narrow. I cannot afford a new saddle. PLEASE HELP! Thanks for looking and reading all this!!!
I hate to tell you this, but you can't make it wider. A too narrow gullet pinches the horse's withers and the trees just can't be bent- it would damage them. That's why those new interchangeable gullet system saddles have been selling so much, so you COULD just switch it out. You can do some research on the saddle and try adding that to sell it on ebay. I found and bought an almost new Courbette on ebay for only $200- if you can just get enough to hunt for a bargain. You can also try to network through sites like craigslist or local tack shops to find one with a wider gullet. Good luck whatever you decide to do!

Egads. I didn't even *know* anything other than wool was used in the panels of leather English saddles. I am aware some synthetics saddles have foam panels (because I ride in one and hate it) but it wouldn't have occurred to me, seeing this saddle and the word “flocking” that it could be anything other than wool.
Great tips for both online shopping and used tack store shopping!
lol it's SO much worse now, that was 9 months ago..so much shopping since then oops lolz
