Have any tips for showing? I am going to be in the Denver Stock Show in Janurary and I was wondering if you have any experiance in it or just any tips!
Classes I am entering:
English Pleasure
Hunter Under Saddle
Equitation
Please mark my question interesting
Thanks alot!
English pleasure.. keep your legs still. have them a bit longer than jumping length. i lost because my legs moved. they are pretty picky!
Hunter... I dont do this, but i was watching it at my first show. just get over the jumps, and remember to circle! also, if your horse tends to refuse, give it leg before the jump, kay?
equitation.. same as english pleasure, but keep a faster pace. english pleasure is slower, but not western-slow. again be sure that your leg is still! try to post, but sitting is okay if you're better at it. that's all I can give you becase ive only been in 1 show before, but keep your stirrups between dressage+jumping length. right in the middle! and remember to smile! If they give you advice at the end of the show, listen to it. It'll help ya out later on. thats why I could give you the leg advice!

I meant to answer on your other question but I was in Denver for the weekend and didn't get to the computer till now.
For Denver.. Line up takes anywhere from 1-3 hours typically, so as you are waiting in line to get to the barn to drop off your horses, take a book.
I am assuming you got a tack stall too. What I do for show clothes when I am in multiple disciplines, is buy cheap individual clothes bags, that walmart sells.. and then write WESTERN, HUNTER, etc.. you get the picture. Also, hay bags are priceless and keep cleanup to a minimum there.
Check the warmup times for the arena, they are icky hours, but use them and also go out into the big arena during warmup to get your horse used to the commotion. The big gold hangys that they have hanging from the ceiling, you would be amazed at how many animals they freak out, plus the sides of the arena have a 'dark area' around them, so just really important for your horse to see those ahead of time. I am just going through some of the things that my guys had issues with at Denver.
You will need a heath certificate, not sure about coggins since you are from CO, if your not, you will then. Make sure you have brand inspections.
What days are you showing? I am the last weekend, so if your anywhere near that, drafts under cart will freak any animal out. They show the same weekend we do.
The gator guys are awesome, little crabby, but be as nice to them as possible, they catch alot of flack from the english riders they say... so really just go out of your way to be nice to them. They are amazing ppl.
The registration committee's and ring stewards are great ppl.
Thats about it, if theres anything more I can think of I will add. Feel free to email me privately if you have anymore 'denver specific' questions. I have shown there the past 6 yrs.
