What Boots to wear to an all english EQ?
I am going for the fist time to an all english riding stable. i rode western for 6 years and english for 1.
I just moved to switzerland (where the stable is) and am going for an evaluation ride on on Wednesday, and i don't know what shoes to wear? I know you should have a heel for the stirrups, But all i have is tall Uggs, Cowboy boots, and Nikes (running shoes), I would wear the cowboy boots but the jeans that i will be wearing are not loose enough around the calf to put the top part of the boot under my jeans as they are very childish and old boots i had 2 years ago.
The Equestrian Center manager is going to measure how much i know and match me with a horse to lease. I am also nervous about how I am used to the comfort and stability of a western saddle and I havent rode in an english saddle in 5 years. Help? 10 points best answer.
I just need to know which shoes i should wear for just this one time after that i will buy boots chaps and all that but just for the evaluation day!
I used to ride western as well for a while, not quite as long as you, but just because i never though of riding English. I started riding English quite some time ago and i love it! To me i find it brings alot of great challenges.
When i first started it English riding it felt so odd because the horn was not there to prevent you to slid forward, which i did indeed felt would have happened. Eventually you find your balance and everything runs smoothly, just take your time kinda deal.
As for shoes- boots would be the best. I personnaly suggest getting a pair of paddock boots and half chaps if you dont want to spend a lot, which i started off with but eventually bought a pair of tall boots, which unfortunately are more expensive, but a very good investment if i do say so myself.
But if you dont have time to get riding boots in time for you evaluation i would say to go with a simple looking shoe/boot with a heel to start then get boots as soon as possible.
I think you should go with the cowboy boots for this evaluation day cause they are more horse related and what not.
