english saddles seat sizes is english size different from western...?
i want to buy an english saddle. what seat size should i get? i ride in a 16 inch western saddle. my old english was i think 18 but it was a bit big and a christmas gift so i didn't pick it. what english size should i look for? tnx! well where i live the tack stores only have western so i don't have a chance to sit in it before but...
what bars would my morab gelding be? tnx!
Probably a 17.5 or an 18. The rule is normally the english number is 2 numbers bigger than the western. Every brand of english saddle fits you and your horse different. Try all sorts of brands. Ask your local tack shop to get more english stuff or ask them to order some english saddles. They should be more than willing to help out.
Most horses/ponies fit an in wide or extra wide tree. If you find the saddle that fits you then ask the tack shop if you can put a return deposit down.. take the saddle home try it and see if it fits comfortably for the horse and you when your in it..if it doesn't take it back and get your money back if it does buy it.
GOOD LUCK!! look around.. you have TONS of choices. synthetic is great for beginners or if you dont want to spend a lot of time cleaning your saddle. Leather is the ideal but is most costly and it requires more care.
