Extra Wide Pro Part-time civil servants on flexitime-bank holdays?
If this is you could you let me know the following:
Do you only get credited pro-rata for bank holidays? For example you work 3/5 of normal full-time hours so you only get credited for 3/5 of a day if there is a bank holiday. With the result that if your normal working day falls on a bank holiday you get that 3/5 of a day leaving you 2/5 of a day in the red. However if the bank holiday falls on a day you done work, yippee you get an extra 3/5 of a day. This means if you are someone who has to work Tuesday to Thursday you are constantly having to work extra or sacrifice overtime to make up flexi debt. If you are in this situation you will understand. I just want to check that this is a civil-service wide issue. Thanks.
I think Bank Holidays should be just a day off...no flexi lost or gained. It would be anywhere else.
Yes, I used to get caught like this when I worked flexi part-time. You should get given two annual calculations, one for leave, and one for bank holidays. Depending on your manager, they may let you take the shortfall out of your annual leave, or you may have to work extra flexi hours to make up. I was told it was not swappable. My manager was very pedantic. My daily allowance was 7 hours 24 minutes, and I worked 30 hours a week. So for a bank holiday I would get credit of 30/37 of 7.24 hours. With the office being closed, I couldn't make up the difference then, so yes, I did feel cheated. Anyone not working Mondays scored, because it was all credit, most bank holidays being on Mondays. The only time you benefit is for Good Friday, and Christmas, depending on what days that is. They couldn't make bank holidays a full day off for part-timers, as you would get proportionally more time off than full-time employees.
How do i find my my floppy disk drive, and do i even have one? (externally)?
I've beeing trying to find out if i have a drive where i can put a floppy disk inside. (desktop computer). Is there any way i can check on my computer if i do have a floppy disk drive or externally? because i dont see a slot where i can slide a floppy disk into. From top to bottom my processor has a burner drive up top, then under it the main drive where you put all ur discs in. Under that here are 2 small slots not wide enough for floppy disk, that are called CF/MICRODRIVE and SD/MMC/SM/MS/PRO. (no clue what these are). and below that just my computer start up button. Below that some extra USB slots/headphone/mic slots. Instead of using a floppy disk, i think there is somthing i can similarly use using the USB slot?
It would appear that you do not have a floppy drive, or a spare bay to put one in. You can purchase a USB floppy drive, or, if you don't want to do that, open up your case and plug a floppy and cable into your motherboard and let it hang out the side.
