Fabtron Saddles
Need to know about flex saddles,?
I read a review that if your heavy +150lbs but less than 200lbs that they won't work as well? That the flex tree will break down and make it more uncomfortable for both rider and horse. Please help if you know anything about these saddles, I bought a fabtron lady trail flex, and I am now worried that this type won't work on my paint.
I have just done more searching and found that with a flex saddle, it may not distribute the weight properly, it will be mainly on the back end of the horse, and since I am a little heavier that will deposit my weight all on her back rather than all over with a normal tree saddle.
Flex saddles always make me a bit nervous because the technology is so new. I think they have a lot of potential to be great, but I don't think they have had enough road time to be really safe. I ride in a treeless sensation saddle, and that does wonders for me and my horse. The weight distribution on that one is pretty good because there is a hardish plastic insert and the stirrups attatch at two points. Even so, the weight distribution is no where near as good as in a treed saddle. Also the price of that saddle makes me a bit suspicious. I find that with the newer technologies such as flex trees, you really get what you pay for.
If you have already purchased the saddle and can't return it, keep riding in it, but listen to what your horse is telling you. Listen to her body language and check for soreness regularly. Check in with your own body too! How does this saddle make you feel? Do you ride better with or without it?
I wouldn't dismiss this saddle completely yet, but just be extra aware when riding in it.
