Good Condition

What is the value of a Winchester Model 12 shotgun in good condition?
This gun is in very good condition. The Bore of the barrel is like a mirror. The overall exterial condtion is very good although it has ben used for hunting throughout the years. Everything is original and has been very well taken care of by my grandfather, my father, and now me.
12 gauge. Barrel like a mirror. Well taken care of by my Grandfather, my Father, and now me. A good idea of aproximate value will help. Thanks.
100% 98% .95% .90%. 80% .70% 60%
$625 $450 $350 $325 $250 $200 $175
From your description, and not seeing the gun, I would guess it would be around 80%. If there is a lot of bluing wear on the magazine tube that would lower it to 70-75%.
The model 12 is a great gun and should last you and your son as well.

Does a horse need good condition in order to build muscle and topline?
My TB is a touch on the slim side, his ribs are not visable but his hip bone and shoulders stick out a bit. He is currently on feed to build condition, does he need good condition before muscle building can happen? He is schooled about 5 times a week.
Thoroughbreds gain weight better when they are being worked. However, if he's running on his forehand the entire time he's being ridden he's not going to gain weight anywhere but in his shoulders. He needs to be worked forward and round to the bit. That will build muscle.
A high quality hay will also go a lot further than grain will.

Cool, glad to see you are passionate about Pentax. I’m a Canon shooter and their are many many things I don’t like about their cameras, the ergonomics are shockingly bad, particularly on the 5 series, but also on the 1s. The company can be quite snobbish and while there service is great their customer service could do with some fine tuning. In many regards I’d much rather have Nikon cameras, espcially since they started making full frame cameras but I’m all in with Canon and switching now makes no finantial. Apart from the 67 I haven’t held a Pentax camera in my hands in the last 15 years and apart from that one model Ive hardly seen one used in a pro situation. I live in Japan and waste a lot of time checking out what’s available in the second had stores here and being completely honest I really can’t ever remember seeing a second hand 24-70 F2.8, or whatever Pentax’s equivalent is, on one of the shelves. Walk into Sanpo Camera and you’ll see ten Canons, 7 Nikons. Nearly every focal length lens can be found in very good condition second hand and just can’t say that about pentax. That and Ive never had to explain my use of Camera to anyone when working. That alone.
Really interesting question.
The Abbe Sine Condition is explained simply and clearly online, see the link below.
Basically it is a simple mathematical formula which predicts how to make lenses form a sharp, good quality image. It simply relates the angles of two kinds of light ray and helps in lens design.
The two kinds of light rays he talks about are rays beaming in close to the center line and rays starting at the center line and beaming outwards to the outer edges of the aperture (opening) of the lens.
These two types of rays are called paraxial (because they are almost PARAllel to the AXIs) and marginal rays (because they head towards the MARGIN or edge of the lens opening).
These simple equations are still used today in Computer Graphics for tracing the paths of light rays and producing realistic effects.
Abbe was a cool guy, he was one of the first managers to insist on an eight hour day for his workers.
