What right did Ronald Reagan have to order the invasion of Grenada?

Between the 25th October and the 15th December 1983, Ronald Reagan ordered the invasion of the carribean island nation of Grenada. Not only was Grenada part of the Commonwealth of Nations but the UK, Canada and the United Nations all condemned it completely, stating that it was just an excuse to show off Americas militaristic side and how politics seems to revolve around military matters quite alot.
"politics seems to revolve around military matters quite alot"

Well, DUH! I don't know who you are quoting there, but whoever it is, really isn't very bright!

I was quoting myself

The quick answer is that Reagan had no right whatsoever. The US was not asked to intervene, and the other Commonwealth nations did not intervene. It was a power play, plain and simple.

Why do neocons pretend Ronald Reagan was one of them?

Ronald Reagan did not erode our civil liberties like George Bush has, he said that the "government is not the solution to our problems, it is the problem", he did not invade other countries just to shove democracy and Western ideas down their throat, and when he did invade countries, it was either to rescue Americans (Grenada) or to retaliate at countries who had provenly supported the people who attacked our troops in a nightclub and attacked American warships (Libya).

I am now a libertarian because George W. Bush has shown complete disrespect for our Constitution ("It's just a piece of paper"), invaded a country that posed no real threat to the United States, and he has caved in to his neocon supervisors, like Paul Wolfowitz, Dick Cheney, and Donald Rumsfeld, who are all official PNAC members, PNAC being a self admitted neocon think tank.

You are soooo right. Thank you thank you thank you!
Liberals mugged by reality, my foot! Just liberals wanting to move the Republican Party to the left: big government and international interventionism.

  1. I've told this story before, but my cousin was on one of Anthony H's million other Granada shows, Flying Start, promoting his business – he invented the computer program that finds addresses from people's postcodes, fact fans, which is why I'm still getting letters addressed to Cleethorpes, South Humberside, over a decade after Humberside stopped existing – and my auntie wore a bright orange frock which meant she could be clearly seen in every single audience shot. Mind you, it was a very small audience.I remember when This Morning moved to London, Granada said they weren't deserting Liverpool, as they'd still be filming Something For The Weekend, the Trevor Ward-fronted What's On thing broadcast after Granada Tonight on Friday, there. So that's ten hours of television a week replaced by ten miniutes.
