Jump Saddle Black
For jumping you want a close contact saddle, right?
Okay, so I already have a black all purpose saddle that is worthless, it works fine but all the color is rubbed away from the stirrup leathers. This is it: http://i414.photobucket.com/albums/pp228/Meagk78/BlackAllPurposeSaddle.jpg
See how behind the stirrup leather it has become a light peach-ish color?
Anyway I am going to try and find a good used jumping saddle. I should be looking for a "jumping" or a close contact saddle right? I found this one: http://horsetopia.horse-for-sale.org/local/saddles/l306665
What do you think? Should I try to get it or stick with my all purpose?
Someone earlier said something about it not having knee blocks. Is it desirable to have no knee blocks in jumping?

Ha, yeah my horse is huge, 16hh.
And yes, I do want to do a little of everything, but mostly jumping.
What sport do you want to do? As I recall, you wanted to do a little of everything right?
I don't see anything wrong with your all purpose. No one can see the color fade while you are in it. It does look like it is slightly sloped to the rear, but that can be corrected with a riser pad. (It could also be the photo.)
For jumping saddles, you basically have three choices - all purpose with jumping emphasis, close contact, or eventing/foxhunting. The eventing/foxhunting saddles are very forward and quite specialized, so you probably don't want one of those. A close contact saddle is really a specialty jumping saddle, so it has no compromise in the position. So, if you want to do any dressage you will really have a hard time doing it in a close contact saddle. An all purpose has some compromise in the position, so while it doesn't put you in the perfect forward seat or the perfect dressage position, it does get you close to both.
If you are going to event or do dressage and jumping, I suggest an all-purpose saddle. If you are going to specialize in hunters or jumpers, I suggest the close contact.
I've ridden in an all purpose saddle for jumping for years and have loved that saddle very much. It was my only saddle until a couple of years ago when I could finally afford a specialty dressage saddle.
Have knee rolls is strictly rider preference. I like a good knee roll because I feel like it keeps my leg more planted and stable on the horse. But as an eventer, I go over more undulating ground than a hunter rider would.
