if you are a hunter or ride english, show in his bridle. if not, show in a nice leather halter. do not put the reins over his neck, fold them over in your left hand, and hold the reins or lead in your right hand (keep him on your right at all times!)

give him a bath the night before the show, and put him in a clean stall. you can't keep him from rolling, but you can keep him from being outside in the mud!

when you give him a bath, use a white shampoo. it will take out all the poo stains and other stains on his coat and make him all shiny and stuff. you can get this at your tack shop. use a bucket to mix shampoo with water and use a sponge to scrub him clean.

after the bath, clip him. comb his mane and tail right after the bath, and clip his mane to be as long as your hand. also, use a razor (like you use for your legs, or face if you're a guy, which i doubt) to trim his whiskers.

before the show, you need to get to your barn early. if he has poo stains, you can run him to the wash stall and rinse them off. brush his mane and tail really quick, and make sure he is well clipped, and then take him out and practice.

make sure he sets first- stands in a square. this makes you a shoo in to win when the judges look you over.
