PHIL BROOKS
After applying in 1971, Phil Brooks received a U.S. patent for his invention of the first disposable syringe on April 9, 1974. At the time that he was granted his patent, Brooks was a Washington, D.C. resident. His "syringe" featured a disposable pouch, into which liquid could be placed through a one opening; a separate opening on the pouch was attached to a rigid nozzle on one end of the apparatus. Brooks' device is referenced in current pharmaceutical technology literature, and is documented as a basis for five separate patents that followed. Brooks' invention was a precursor of the development of the efficient, hygienic and disposable equipment used for medicated liquid douches today.
Sandy, you have already answered your own question. Use the text that you quote about Phil Brooks, but re-write it in your own words. You will do fine!

Blackberry Leather Pouch Pocket
How does a blackberry know to shut off in the pouch?
I have a blackberry Curve 8330 that came with a black leather pouch to carry it in. When I stick my phone into the pouch it turns its screen off when I pull it out the screen comes back on
How does it know to do that?
You both gave great answers. But THANK YOU Josh for explaining that. It was making me crazy wondering how it did that.
The Case is magnetic and so is the device.
So when the BB is placed inside the pouch, it locks the screen and the keys so it prevents it from calling or emailing someone you don't want to.
