   1. I think it is a good achievement, but I really think you're going too fast and skipping the basics just to say you've done something (I'm guessing it's not you who is moving so quickly but your instructor).

   2. It will go away, assuming they're really your friends.

   3. I'm guessing the horse doesn't want to maintain the canter with someone flopping around on their back and probably pulling on the reins, and you don't have an "independent seat" which would allow you to use your legs effectively to keep the horse going.

   4. for questions 3, 4 and 5 I would suggest a lesson on a longe line. Let the instructor be in charge of controlling the horse while you work on your riding without having to worry about keeping the horse going or steering. Then, you can get the feel of the canter by holding the front of the saddle with your outside hand and the back with your inside hand (outside and inside of the circle you're on). Hold yourself down in the saddle (sit deep). Learn to relax your hips so that you can flow with the horse and gradually rely less on your hands holding you onto the saddle. The canter should feel sort of like swinging in a swing – add a front/back motion into the up/down.

   The whole group then bustles into the lobby of the building, where they are greeted by the long neck of a huge, herbivorous dinosaur. The kids run past that and around a corner, where stands another, smaller dinosaur.

   Which is wearing a saddle.

   It is an English saddle, hornless and battered. Apparently, this was a dinosaur used for dressage competitions and stakes races. Any working dinosaur accustomed to the rigors of ranch work and herding other dinosaurs along the dusty trail almost certainly would wear a sturdy western saddle.

   This is very much a show dinosaur.
