Quarter Horse Jump

How do you teach an older horse to jump?
I have an eight year old Quarter horse cross who was used as a lesson horse until it became aparent that he was no beginners horse and was sold to me. I find that he was very poorly trained and he gets bored with the little amount that he knows how to do and I would love to teach him how to jump or do some form of drassage or basicially anything to keep him interested in his lessons, but I have no idea how to go about training him.Any sugestions?
Well eights not very old so it will be easier to teach him i would start off doing trotting poles and once he has that mastered then set up a small jump like 30 cm then just keep doing that and then you can set it up higher and higher each time! That what i did and it also helps strengthen there jumping muscles so your teaching him and strengthening him!
Also to keep him interested in what he is doing do lots of circles and figure eights also just do anything i always try to make it interesting like i once set up troting poles then a jump and i would canter up to the trotting poles then trot then rate after canter and then i would change the hole thing ![]()
