Jumping saddle questions?
First, have you ever heard of avante saddlery? Or ridden their saddles or anything? I have an old avante and its nice, but I don't know anything about the saddles.
Second, I am going to do hunter jumper competitions and I was wondering if the M. Toulouse premia would be too flashy. It looks really nice to me...and comfy, but would it be looked down upon in hunters? Here's a picture of it.

I am just going to learn to jump (rode western forever, converted to hunter under saddle last year, now want to jump), so I will just be entering local shows at the moment and doing lots of beach riding! So, this is more for lower level hunters, less than A circuit for sure.
Never heard of the first saddle.
The M. Toulouse saddle (the Premia if I'm not mistaken) is a very nice saddle. Well made, fantastic leather and extremely comfortable. I love them. They do however require specific leathers (that are expensive!) that stretch a fair amount. They also require certain cleaners/conditioners. And they mark up very easily. The leather that makes it so wonderful is its downfall. They also have a funky fit on some horses. Still fantastic saddles in my opinion though. And long story short, the company use to be a different company that was in the saddle business for years so they do know how to make good saddles and have for years (with a different name). They are also fairly good about backing their product.
For hunter/jumpers, it is the wrong color and shape. Chocolate brown with a very forward flap and semi-noticeable blocks under the flap. Its primary seen in the show jumping arena at the moment, but they are showing up in the hunter ring. Would I take it to Maclay where every last detail counts, no. Would I take it to an "A"/"AA" show.. ehh probably not. But for just about any other venue, I'd take this saddle in a second.
Oh and just fyi, the flap on that saddle encourages a more defensive/leg perpendicular to the ground position (desired for XC and show jumping) instead of the softer leg now placing in the eq and hunter ring.

What are Avante Saddles worth?
my friend is selling her used avante saddle but still looks new and shes selling it for $300 is that good or bad?
If it's in REALLY good condition, have her sell it for more. What I did to find value of my saddle was take it to a tack shop and they told me the value.
