Removing dye transfer from saddle leather?
I wore a pair of new tall boots while riding in my McCall Lady Wade western saddle and some of the black dye transferred to the fenders. (Argh, was I MAD!) What can I do to clean it? It's a beautiful saddle and I'd like to hear from all of you who've actually done something like this successfully so I don't mess up my leather. This is the saddle (minus the icky dye transfer).

This is what it looks like now. A bit hard to tell from the quality of the picture, but it is very noticeable in person. It just really bugs me that it happened and I would love to get rid of it the right way. Thanks!

If it were me, I'd take it to a shoe repair place (a reputable one obviously, not the We-Fix-Ur-Heels-While-U-Wait kind at the mall!) and see what they make of it. They have a good knowledge of leathers and the treatments they typically undergo (sealants, waxes, dye composition, etc.) You might also contact the manufacturer of the saddle to see what they have to say. I wouldn't use the stripper (well, I'd at least be afraid to!) because it would likely remove some or all of the dye or finish that is supposed to stay on the saddle.
That is what I would do...but that's just me.

beautiful young horse wears saddle first time
show tack websites or stores?
i bought a beautiful show saddle with lots of silver. i got it for really cheap on this farm website. but im now having trouble finding a bridle to match it. i already have a breastcollar for it. it is a light oil but not really light. its really between light and dark. its hard to explain but every bridle i find it looks wayy to light. i really want a double ear bridle with some silver but ill be happy with a one ear or a browband if it matches my saddle. i cant find the website that i bought my saddle from to see if they sold matching brides (they didnt when i bought my saddle) and my dad deleted my receipt so i have no clue where i bought it but i know that the store is not in my area.
any places where i can find one? i tried state line tack.
it will be greatly appreciated.
oh by the way i live in NY and have tried all my local tack shops. they all have crap.lol.
You can get one that is lighter and then stain it either by using olive oil, then let it dry, then put more on it or by using a leather stain in the same process.
Light oil leather also darkens in the sun (like a sun tan) so you can take the silver off of it if possible, and leave it in the sun. Just remember to check it often.
Schneiders Tack www.sstack.com has lots of headstalls in all different colors, Pards Western Wear, Rods Tack, all have them too. There are lots of sites out there.
If you cannot find one with the silver on it, then get the headstall and some silver packages and put it on yourself.
The silver pattern and style also need to match too.
Try eBay too, I have had lots of luck with them on hard to find things.
