Saddle Cherry Mistake to use Ronseal quick-dry coloured varnish on door saddles?
I want to stain-varnish 4 pine door saddles that came with our house extension. The colour needs to go with a few different wood floors (birch, oak, cherry) + cream tiles and a walnut/cream kitchen, and walnut is really the only colour that goes with everything. I don't want to buy a huge, very expensive can of coloured Ronseal Diamond floor coating - anyway, it doesn't come in the right colour. Would it be a mistake to use Ronseal Quick-dry furniture varnish which comes in the perfect Walnut colour?
The other option is to use a walnut wood stain with clear Ronseal Diamond Coat on top, but that might cause problems if we have to touch the saddles up later.
Any thoughts please?
You can use the furniture varnish to get the right colour and protect it with clear varnish on the top for durability.
I don't think you'll be immune from problems of touching up later whatever you do, which is what keeps wood finishers in work.
