Saddle Stand Should my Seat Hurt This Much in the Saddle?
I'm a beginner cyclist. I put my bike on my new trainer and jumped on for 10 to 15 minutes. It hurt like *$%! in my crotch. I went to jump on again today and I'm so sore I can't stand the pressure on my seat. Should I be this sore, is it the bike fit, the saddle, etc.? I've ridden with this saddle a little before (but I was much lighter at the time). Could that have something to do with it? I really want to ride and I'm bummed that this problem is preventing my progress. Thanks -- KC
Actually KC, Although the answers stated above are good. Well, some of them anyway, the fact is we don't ride trainers the same way we ride bicycles. When you are on a bike you move around quite a bit adjusting your weight across the saddle, moving your hands, stretching out of the saddle, etc. On trainers we tend to just sit and pedal...so it is important that you move your hands pedal standing up just as you would on your bike. As far as fit is concerned: Is the front wheel level with the rear wheel? This is very important to riding trainers. And also trainers are reasonable way to dial in your riding position. Determine which area of your crotch hurts and adjust your fit as needed.
Nice home made saddle stand with tripod mount threaded base!
Might the edge of the rod not risk to scratch or tear the DD and her clothes, being bare metal? Could one easily cover it in transparent rubber/plastic?
