Saddle Suede
What is the best way to clean leather?
I need to clean some saddles and other leather tack. No suede just plain old saddle leather.
I use saddle soap. This is what BMW recommends for their leather seats. Thus, I would think that it would be great for saddles!

Restoring leather saddle?
I've taken on a new project: I'm restoring my Aunt's old western saddle. It's been sitting in a garage for at least 20 years, so it's in pretty bad condition. I've been working at it with saddle soap,and it works pretty well, but it's still so stiff! Also, there's a hole in the horn and the suede seat-any idea how much it would cost to get it reupolstered?(sp)Thanks!
I would suggest that you don't scrub old leather with a brush. Use a cloth to clean the saddle. Also, if you use olive oil or any vegetable oil the saddle will mold and get rancid. Use Neetsfoot oil. It is good for leather. Linseed oil will work too but it has a strong odor for a while. Good luck.
