Okay, so I just got my saddle back from a barn and it's sort of dirty. I am planning to sell it and am going to clean it shortly. What I want to know is how do I clean a saddle? My dad said that he isn't going to buy me any cleaning supplies for the saddle. So, what can I use instead to clean it? I will be posting pictures so you can answer a question I asked previously this week. Thanks so much!
You didn't say whether english or western saddle. Western is obviously going to be a bigger job.
Using a very soft brush and a bucket of room temp. water with a squirt of any cheap dish liquid, go all over the saddle to get dust, dirt etc. off. This means fenders, leathers, stirrups. Rinse thoroughly, allow to dry out of direct sunlight, NO heaters or blow dryers either. Buff with soft clean cloths. Tell whoever buys the saddle to get LEXOL original formula conditioner. Mix in a sprayer bottle 60% Lexol 40% water, shake well and apply to the saddle until it won't absorb anymore. Allow to dry (as per instruction) and buff with clean, dry cloths to a soft patina.
