Sometimes it is that they are not used to it. Sometimes because it is less comfortable. Sometimes this is the shape of the horse's back and sometimes it is because the person riding is too heavy or too underweight(which causes the pelvic bones to push into the back.My wife likes her syhthetic because it is light weight and fits all our horses well.
