Saddles with flexible trees - what do you think?
I have been reading a bit about treeless saddles lately and they sound good, but I'm not sure I like the shape of most of them, plus I like a bit more security. But I found the websites interesting as they mentioned that regular saddle trees don't bend as the horse moves, which sounds pretty uncomfortable to me. So I was thinking of saddles with flexible trees (an in-between!). I just want to know if anyone has used one, what they think of them and what are some good ones available.
Hey, thanks guys. I did a search on Len Brown and found that he now makes something called the 'Corrector' which works with any saddle. Sounds like it might be worth checking out.
I have to admit to being a bit wary with tree less saddles.
Maybe I am old school, but I want support and security in a saddle. I do like some of the flexible tree saddles.
You have to be careful with them tho, because they are not all the same. I read some of the posts about the Ortho Flex saddle. One person said they thought they were awful and another one loves them and has three...so go figure?
I do have some experience with the ortho flex too.
But there is a BIG DIFFERENCE between the originals and the ones being produced since Len Brown sold the company. I have an original Ortho Flex Roper and it is the best and most comfortable saddle I have ever owned.
I would no buy a saddle from the New OF company, because they are not the same.
So education is your best defense

How do i measure the tree on an english saddle?
It does not tell under the flap.
I mean the TREE not the seat!

English Saddles are measured by SEAT and GULLET
When measuring for the seat of an English Saddle, take a measurement from the side screw on the pommel to the center edge of the cantle.
Measure the gullet in front between the two pomel screws
