ok so i got a horse named reo hes about 7 and a half years old i remeber riding him a year ago hes an amzing hunter/jumper and dressage horse he moved away to north carolina a year ago with his owner and know his owner cant take care of him... the owner of this horse(reo) was my riding teachers daughter so my riding teacher asked if i wanted to buy sense he used to be my lesson horse and i loved him...but sense hes moved he hasnt been riden maybe once a month?do you think he'll be the same from the first time i rode him or should i ease him back into it?also ive been riding for 4 years hunter/jumper and some dressage and wanted to no what brand of saddle i should get him i have a sorrento close contact jumping saddle (very expensive) but should i start jumping him right away with it or use my older endurance saddle the first couple times i ride him before i start jumping or is there another saddle i should get and if so what brand?

If he's only been ridden lightly since the last time you rode him, he may be out of shape. Just work him slowly and gradually get him back to the level of work you were doing previously. You can ride him in your regular saddle, whether you jump him now or not--the saddle isn't only good for jumping, it's okay for flatwork too. As long as the saddle fits him, it's fine.
