Status dressage

Thoughts and opinions on the STATUS ELITE dressage saddles?
I am looking at buying a status elite dressage saddle. Just a cheap dressage saddle for my flat work at home and because they have the self molding gullets in them. I am show jumping my TB but as you can imagine, a jump saddle isn't the best saddle to be training in when do flat work lol. I just wanted peoples opinion on them and the idea of their gullet system. I won't be competing it this saddle so I will not be paying a great deal of money on a saddle and I like the synthetics especially as it will just be a work saddle.
Thanks ![]()
Personally, My opinion,
With saddles you get what you pay for, there is a reason why a lot of people have issues with the mass produced, cheap, and cheaply produced saddles.
I know a number of people who have had issues with these saddles, not fitting causing the horse pain etc etc, dont know anyone who has had any luck with them. To be honest one of the best things you can do is invest in a good saddle - good for both you and your horse. About a year ago I spent about 4k on getting a saddle made to order for me and one of my horses, I intend to have this for 30yrs+ Dont intend to sell It, Its worth while getting a good saddle and then getting it adjusted to the horse you have.
And I know every one says but I dont have 4k sitting around, I diddnt either, I saved and put my money aside.
The Bates and Wintec saddles are a reasonably cheap alternative, look on ebay you can get a cheap second hand wintec for around $300 AUS I know a number of people who have had sucess with them and they have changable gullet so it will cost you less to get adjusted to your horse. And you will have less problems.
Its a good idea to get a saddle fitter out first to take a look at your horses back if you dont know enough to saddle fit yourself, So they they can point you in the direction of the saddles and brands that will be suitable for your horses back - you need to keep this in mind or you will be spending a fortune on chiropractic work and physio for your horse.
