Treeless Saddle
Treeless Saddle and tacking up?
I have bought my first treeless saddle and it's coming in today. Is there anything I should know about how to tack up with it? Is it any different than a traditional one? Thanks!
THere isn't much diffrence. Just be for warned if you have a troting horse the shock absorbtion is diffrent becasue there is no tree to absorb it. if you have a gaited horse you will love it but be careful for rubbing becasue the saddle will move with the motion of the horse so i would suggest to not use neoprene or any type of rubbery matrial saddle pad becasue it agrivated the hairs. USe a fleece or wool(wool is better because it has a cooling system and dosn't cause friction.

Kendra and galley using a Barefoot treeless saddle
I am looking for a good treeless saddle, whats the best make?
I have a barrel shaped quarter horse, and I want to switch to a treeless saddle. I cannot afford a really expensive saddle, so what would the best brand be? I have seen alot on ebay for around $100-200, but they have no brands. But would a treeless be ok if you bought a cheap one?
I am also a sensation rider, and I love it to pieces! Unfortunately you will be looking more in the $1000 range, not the $100-200. ridetreeless.com is where I got mine and they give fantastic advice and options.
I would really suggest that you don't buy a cheep treeless. With any saddle, including treeless, you get what you pay for. A cheep one will basically be a saddle pad with stirrups, which is VERY dangerous, and WILL injure your horse. It won't have any weight distribution, and will slip around on your horse. If you really need something short, go for a chashel soft saddle, but do not ride for long distances or times in this saddle...just use it for a quick romp in the field or a stretch in the arena...no jumping, no dressage work, and no trail rides. You need something more expensive if you are going for longer rides.
