Treeless Saddles
Can someone tell me any pros/cons or just general info on treeless saddles?
My mare gets a sore senstive back after riding, and she is quite plump. Her saddle always tips forwards and back, and last time i rode her it was excessively bad, every 1 minute down a hill it fell way on her neck, and this is not a exxageration. I heard a treeless saddle fits better and doesnt cause back pain if fitted properly. Any information is apprecieted

thanks you two bottom posters as well, both very helpful! yes i have good padding. thats something i really shelled out on, i have a 120$ blanket which is double layered thick on both layer to ensure comfort, as well as a thick high quality pad on top

I have 2 Bob Marshall treeless. I LOVE mine!!! I have no cons for mine. I have never had any slipping, but I use a breast collar. I ride in the mountains of WY & NV. I work my 151 acre ranch in it(no roping). I choose my treeless over the rest of my saddles.

Well i don't know much about horses but i think that since both or you sound to be headstrong. You two are going to have to find a way to work together. (i also am nnot found of the way the owner teats them they way you describe). That may be why Magarita is so strong willed. She wants it her way and no other way. While her owner will make it his way, you aren't like that and she probly sences it and wants to see what she can do with you. If i were you i'd just work with her and over time, i am sure you two will be perfect together.
(i also think the reason you and Chkeetah didn't mesh well is because she is used to one way; her owners way, and no one elses.)
But with enough practice and time, you'll be fine with Margarita. Good luck. and i hope i either encouraged you a little, or at the very least was able to get you to laugh at me, giving you some "words of wisedom" when i know nothing about horses
