16.3 hand horse?? Big horsey! Please answer?
So, I'm trying to find a perfect horse for me. (BTW, if you want to help i live in las vegas and want an english trained horse, maybe jumping. My price range is up to 3,000) ok, so i've been looking around like crazy, and i come upon this horse, who sounds absolutely perfect.

16.3H bay thoroughbred gelding, 1,500. Trained English Pleasure and Jumping and Dressage. Reason given for selling is that rider is petite and has difficulty. here's the ad, but there's no pics.

Now, the only reason i would have a problem is because I'm 5'2"...... Would the horse be majorly gi-hugeous?? And, do you think theremay be something wrong with him, being sold at such a low price... Please help!

I'm 5ft7 with long legs and last time I rode a 16.3hh I looked like an absolute midget, might have a picture some where seeing if I can root it out. In all fairness he was a shire cross something so was wide anyway, but my legs just weren't going anywhere. I did cope with him fine, he was a difficult horse with a lot of issues having been passed from owner to owner having been in the same place for 16 years, and I coped - but I could really feel his strength, at one point he did have a bolt with me, and although it went no where there was no way in hell I had control. If he's thinner build he's going to help make your leg fit around him more but that is still a lot of horse to have underneath you, and you're too small for a horse that can affect things like balance and movement of a horse, often you see smaller riders on bigger horses having to make far more exagerated and often unattractive moving to produce the same effect as smaller riders.
By all means go and try, you may well gind that the size is not an issue - but be aware that is a big horse, and don't be surprised if you find him to be too much horse to deal with.
