Wintec or leather English saddle?
I'm buying a new saddle and I'd like to know peoples opinions. Does a wintec saddle look less proffesional in the show ring than a leather saddle? I jump in lower level shows ( I just started) Which do you like better?
The most important criteria in choosing a saddle is how well it fits your horse. If you find a wintec saddle that fits your horse perfectly, then get that saddle.
In most lower-level or local shows almost any close contact saddle is allowed. However, higher-level shows often have different standards. If you plan on keeping this saddle for a while, then you should probably get a saddle that is allowed in the circuits you may eventually compete in. You should note that judges shouldn't be judging your equipment in any jumper division. While a leather saddle might look nicer, your riding will be the deciding factor.
I would suggest going to a tack shop and sharing your concerns with them. They will have specific information about the benefits of different saddles.
