Wintec Horse Saddle

A saddle for my horse?
I'm looking for a good second hand saddle for my new tb gelding. He's 16hh and came to us quite skinny, so he's only starting to fill out now. Anyone have any ideas of what saddle brands I should keep an eye out for? I've been quite interested in a wintec saddle. Anyone got any info on them? I've heard they're quite good. Thanks ![]()
I'm in Ireland, so the makes have got to be available there
I would suggest getting an adjustable saddle as it will be expensive if you have to buy more saddles as he fills out. i had a synthetic wintec adjustable saddle which fitted my horse well and was reasonable cheap compared to a leather one, however if possible try it on the horse before you buy.

Wat Is A Good Cheap All Purpose Saddle?
What is a good saddle that is cheap? (AU$600 max)
I was looking at the Wintec 250 All Purpose. For people who have this saddle- Is it good or if u dont have this one can u recommend a saddle that fits my purpose.
And I have heard that 2nd hand saddles are better as they are broken in (dont know what this means) is this true or not

thanks
I have a wintec 500 all purpose and I love it. I've never ridden on a 250 saddle before. I would love a leather saddle, even though they take more care, so if you can find a good one that fits you and your horse grab it.
New leather saddles have to be broken in like a new pair of boots, but the leather can be soften with neatsfoot oil to help with that.

you are very good and most of your answers are correct except for one ### 10 No western gess!! your smart .. you should know that one !!!
P.S. THEY ARE NOT KNOWN FOR WESTERN !!!!
DRIVING AND JUMPING ARE RIGHT ''''''
YOU would be right most of the time except for that one question ,,, sorry!!!
I think drafts are great. It is important to get an older one, however, because as you pointed out, if they won't do what you want them to do, and you don't know how, they can take advantage; this is particularly true of youngsters.
I used to train a young Percheron; he was three, and the most bomb proof horse I've ever met. We could trail ride on the buckle around heavy machinery, running water, and deer with no problem. I think Percheron's a great because they are also more athletic than other draft breeds, with a longer leg, and slightly less muscle.
Draft crosses are super too. How much are you willing to spend? Forresthillfarm.com sells nice draft crosses, but they are more fancy and expensive.
As with any horse, especially if you are a beginner, it's very important to keep in regular training.
