New saddle - best brand?

I currently have a Wintec saddle which I purchased while in South Africa, I haven't looked back, but I am looking for another saddle. I am looking for something comfy yet sturdy, strong and safe yet comfortable for the horse. What is the best brand that you have tried out, or have? I know this is a rookie question, I have been riding since I was ten months (that's over 16 years) but I am looking for other people's opinions.

The "best" saddle will be the one that fits your horse. There are a gazillion saddles out there, but no one company makes a saddle that works for every horse and rider - but that said, it's hard to go wrong with a saddle from the UK, from whence most of the fitting innovations for horse and rider spring: Black Country, Hastilow, Frank Baines, Ideal, Albion and Jeffries are a few worth looking into.

Your best bet is to work with a reputable independent saddle fitter, or with a shop that has a big inventory and a good in-house fitter. Be sure that you can really give the saddle a good test ride (or 2 or 3) before you decide to buy. Getting help from a pro will cut down on the time, money and frustration you spend. Good luck!

Should I have extra padding for a swayback horse?

My gelding is about 22 and he is getting a swayback (not to terrible right now but noticeable) I do ride him often and I wanted some opinions on the cushions that go over the saddle pad and under the saddle (for example: cashel cushion or wintec cushion). Do you think it would benefit him if I were to use one of the cushions? He is a really good boy and I would love to ride him for many years to come! Thanks for you help!

Yes, it will not reverse the swayback that he has, but it will prevent it even further. I alwasy ride will a gel pad under my regualr pad. It just cushions the shock.
